History
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy was established on 19 February 1974 through the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Act, 1974 (X X X І of 1974). According to Section 4 (2) of the Act, the Academy constitutes Shilpakala Parishad in every district and sub-division of the country and according to Section 22 (1) of the said Act, the constitution of Shilpakala Parishad was approved at the meeting of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Parishad on 9 September 1986. The Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Act, 1974 (X X X І of 1974) has been repealed by the Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad and the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Act 1979 (Act No. 22 of 1979) has been enacted with some amendments. According to the law, in the 103rd meeting of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Parishad held on 28 October 2013, the constitution of the district Shilpakala Academy has been approved by amending the constitution of the Shilpakala Parishad. In the 108th and 108th meetings of the council, the constitution of the district Shilpakala Academy was formulated to conduct the activities of the district Shilpakala Academy by partially amending the constitution. The District Shilpakala Academies are managed by an Executive / Ad Hoc Committee under the supervision of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy by the framed constitution.
The Deputy Commissioner was ex-officio chairman of the committee. Each district has one District Cultural Officer, who conducts all the activities of the District Shilpakala Academy and is the Member Secretary in the case of the Ad Hoc Committee.
